They are listening...

North Snohomish County Outreach is listening and that's a good thing. When I first started posting their website said only, "Coming Soon" within no information about the pallet shelter pilot project at all. Six hours after my first post on Facebook they had updated their page to include more information - some vague planning documents and an FAQ - and Generations Community Church finally posted something on their Facebook page about it.

Now they've updated their FAQ to include contact information for the Community Development Department and are encouraging people to reach out and share their opinion whether they are for or against this project. But we all know now that the Community Development Department can do little to stop this project. As long as NSCO and GCC can demonstrate that they can meet the infrastructure requirement (electricity, water/sewer, garbage) there is little that the city can do to stop the pilot program. I know this from my conversations with Mayor Nehring and emails with the Marysville CD Director, Haylie Miller. I've also heard that at this point in time, they haven't yet provided the city with that information.

The people who need to be hearing your input are Sara Higginbotham, Executive Director at NSCO and Pastor Craig Laughlin of Generations Community Church. They have the power to stop this project tomorrow, if they wish. While they haven't yet asked you for your input on their project, they are asking you to reach out if you have alternative solutions.

If you are in favor of addressing this complicated issue and have an alternate solution, we’d love to hear it. sarah@nscoutreach.org

So please reach out. Contact them with your ideas and alternatives, and even your opinions. Because your opinions matter.

What can you do?
